The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A flagship of Italian viticulture, Antinori is a key player in the global wine world. Its highly sought-after cuvées top wine rankings and captivate enthusiasts around the globe. Pioneering the "super Tuscans," reds that incorporate Bordeaux varieties, the Antinori family continues its relentless pursuit of excellence with unwavering ambition.

An iconic estate in Tuscany, at the heart of Chianti, Tenuta Tignanello is the crown jewel of the Antinori family, which has owned it since the 19th century. Spanning 130 hectares of slopes with rocky, limestone soils, it produces some of the most sumptuous and coveted wines in Tuscany, and indeed, the world.

It was here that the first Sangiovese aged in barrel, Tignanello, was born—the first to be blended with Cabernet in the early 1970s and downgraded to table wine for breaking Chianti's appellation rules. This pioneer of the "super Tuscans" is undoubtedly one of the most coveted wines in the world, alongside Solaia, sharing the same land and legacy.
Wine Rated 95/100 by Parker, the 2020 Tenuta Tignanello Red (IGT Toscana) is another triumph, offering a surprisingly approachable style with a refined and linear profile. Predominantly Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it embodies classic elegance. The wine reveals an enticing bouquet of black cherry, spices, floral hints, and a touch of subtle toast. Its structure is exceptionally graceful, framed by silky, soft tannins that enhance its accessibility. Enjoyable even now with proper decanting, this wine also has the potential to age beautifully, rewarding patience for years to come.
Vinification Harvested by hand. Fermentation in truncated-cone tanks. Racking after sampling and tasting. Aged for 15 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, part of which are new.
