The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine An extraordinary alliance! When Raul Pérez, the young star of Bierzo, teams up with César Marquez, a masterful winemaker, the results are nothing short of dazzling.

At Castro Ventosa—a historic site with Roman roots surrounded by vineyards—these two trailblazers of the new Spanish wine movement are reshaping and revitalizing the scene. Drawing from old vines and native grape varieties, they craft wines that are vibrant, precise, and elegantly refined, capturing the spirit of Spanish innovation and heritage.
Wine From a sandy terroir known for its finesse, the 2022 Red Bierzo Valtuille Villegas exudes elegance and floral character. It’s rare to encounter such subtlety and Burgundian expression at this latitude, yet the unique climate of Bierzo, combined with the winemakers' expertise, elevates this distinguished wine to the highest level. Ultra-refined tannins, a measured structure, and perfectly balanced aging in wood create a model of harmony and freshness. Simply outstanding. Rated 98/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand harvested. Natural fermentation using indigenous yeasts. Aged in 500-litre oak barrels for 12 months.
