The estate and the wine |
A leading figure in biodynamic viticulture, Nicolas Joly is a key player in the Loire Valley region and is now accompanied by his daughter Virginie. At the pinnacle of their art, with 2 stars in the RVF Guide, they produce great white wines whose richly constituted substance is capable of very long aging.
An icon of world viticulture, Coulée de Serrant is one of the world's greatest white wines. Each new vintage is an event eagerly awaited by connoisseurs. Entirely biodynamically farmed for over 45 years, the estate produces the most complex and mysterious of wines, which only really reveal themselves after several years of aging. |

The newly hatched 2021 white Savennières Les Vieux Clos boasts a brilliant golden hue, more intense than any of its peers. The nose reveals a high degree of ripeness, with the usual slight oxidative notes from the Joly family, joined by hints of mirabelle plum and white fruit. The palate is generous, rich, and full, framed by a fine, measured aging process. The slight sweetness on the finish makes the wine quite charming, and it could be served with fine fish or spicy cuisine. |
