Legend of Sauternes, Château de Fargues is owned by Alexandre de Lur Saluces, who was once the co-owner of Yquem, vinifying it for over thirty years... This staunch advocate of sweet wines and heritage now oversees the family jewel, a domain of his family since 1472, like a treasure.
Now joined by his son Philippe, he applies exactly the same principles as at Yquem, with minuscule yields to obtain, through successive selections, perfectly ripe grapes with exquisite natural concentration, and very long aging of three years, producing a Sauternes comparable to the greatest, vibrant, precise, and lordly. |

Derived from a frost-affected year that significantly reduced the harvest, the 2008 white Sauternes Château de Fargues is a sumptuous success, an essence of concentrated and profound Sémillon. Notes of candied and exotic fruits, honey, and saffron intertwine around a sensual and opulent framework, with innate freshness, enhanced by extensive aging that has brought it to this stage of development. The finish, marked by great tension, concludes the tasting with delight. A superb achievement that can be served at the table with roasted poultry or aged Comté cheese. Rated 95/100 by Parker. |
