The estate and the wine |

Indissociable from its owner Jean Merlaut who has been caring for it for three decades, the Château Gruaud Larose, a 2nd Grand Cru Classé of the Médoc, is one of the most sought-after Médoc wines. Famous for its powerful character enhanced by a homogeneous terroir of deep gravel, close to the Branaire-Ducru and Lagrange vineyards, it still offers a great aging potential, as well as an interesting pricing policy, among the most interesting of the Left Bank at this quality level. |

With its spicy character, its smooth tannins and its supple texture, the 1995 Saint-Julien Château Gruaud Larose is a testimony to the great Bordeaux wines of the 1990s. Notes of cedar, tobacco, and candied fruit make up a beautifully evolved aromatic bouquet, carried by a body whose power has mellowed and whose tannins have melted away. A tender and well balanced wine, which transports us back in time! Rated 94/100 RVF. |

Hand harvested and grapes sorted on a conveyor belt in the vineyard. 50% malolactic fermentation in barrels and thermo-regulated cellar. Pumping over twice a day during the fermentation phase. Aged for 16 to 18 months in medium toast barrels and French oak. |
