The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A star winemaker in Morgon, Jean-Marc Burgaud is one of its most passionate advocates. Committed to the best terroirs, this elite winemaker produces cuvées of full maturity, finely crafted and vibrant, with great potential. Here, Gamay transforms into velvet, free from heavy-handed aging with very little new oak, allowing the fruit and the expression of the terroir to shine.
Wine Reminiscent of fine Piedmontese wines, the 2022 red Morgon Grands Cras is a very fine Gamay with an assertive tannic structure. Stone fruit aromas, restrained ageing and fine ripeness are its precious assets, blended into a concentrated, rich body, with a mineral marker. A wine of fine structure and great complexity, to be laid down quietly for 10 years. Rated 95/100 by the Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested, traditional vinification with 12-day whole grape maceration, aged 9 months in vats.
