The distillery
The distillery One of the most modern distilleries in the world, Midleton produces a range of unique Irish whiskeys. The Mitchell family—now represented by Jonathan and his son Robert—has carried on this two-century-old tradition across seven generations, crafting long-aged whiskeys with secret blends.

Originally, Red Spot was a mark used to identify barrels of different ages; the Mitchells painted a colored dot on the casks to distinguish them and indicate their aging potential.
Spirits Aged in three different types of casks—bourbon, sherry, and malaga—the Yellow Spot 12-Year-Old Whiskey is unfiltered, revealing aromas of freshly cut hay, freshly ground black pepper, red bell pepper, and nutmeg. As it opens, gentle notes of honey and peach emerge. On the palate, these flavours are echoed with restrained power and warming spices. The long finish, marked by barley and those same beautiful spices, extends the tasting pleasure beautifully.
Elaboration Non-peated. A blend of malted and unmalted barley, aged in three types of casks, the 12-year-old Yellow Spot is a cask-strength whiskey that’s non-chill filtered to preserve all its rich flavours.
