The tasting |
Light, brilliant garnet-red with ochre hues. Not a very mature color for such a vintage. |
| | |
Subtle, with delicate aromas of Morello cherries in brandy, floral notes of peony and dried rose, and a woody patina on a complex, spicy base. |
| | |
Magnificent, harmonious juice, elegant and sapid, revealing fine, delicate tannins. Our committee was won over by the balance and subtlety of this 1983 vintage, bottled in 2022. |

Beautifully evolved and barely marked by the passage of time, the 1983 red Châteauneuf-du-Pape has maintained its youthful essence, with a color just faintly tinged with garnet-ochre. The nose opens up to notes of cherry brandy and amber, presenting a profile that is sweet, ripe, and polished, with a noble woody background, and a floral return of peony and dried rose, delicately spiced. The palate unfolds a harmonious, savory juice, with an extremely delicate grain of tannin. It's a pleasant surprise from this vintage, an extremely tasty ensemble that instills confidence in aging. Ready to drink now, and for the next 5 to 10 years. A Committee Favorite rated 94/100. |

Harvested by hand. Vinification in truncated-cone wooden vats and concrete tanks. Aged only once in concrete vats to preserve the freshness of the fruit. NB: The cork is new and gives confidence in the ageing process. |
