Our committee's review
Set on the finest slopes of Ampuis, Domaine Garon crafts wines of remarkable finesse from the steep hillsides of Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu. Working with a detailed, plot-by-plot approach across schist and granite soils, the estate brings out the unique personality of each parcel.
The Garon family produces elegant, expressive wines known for their refined texture and vibrant aromatic character. Tasting these cuvées is always a captivating experience—this is a benchmark estate with no weak links.
Awarded 1 star in the Revue du Vin de France (RVF) Guide—a leading French wine publication—these wines are highly sought-after by enthusiasts and praised by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World, for their well-judged aging in oak barrels, which impart subtle complexity without overpowering the wine. Easy to enjoy yet built to evolve, they are essentials from the Northern Rhône Valley.
Don’t miss these two standout cuvées—favorites of our Selection Committee—scoring 94 and 95 out of 100!
The 2023 Condrieu La Vieille Maison White is an elegant, expressive Viognier that balances ripeness with freshness. Aromas of bergamot and subtle blond toastiness from barrel aging mingle with delicate creamy notes, creating a beautifully nuanced nose. On the palate, its depth and definition make it a superb match for refined dishes—think fish, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses. A true favorite of our Selection Committee, awarded an impressive 94/100.
A Selection Committee favorite, the 2023 Côte-Rôtie Sybarine Red earned an outstanding 95/100. It opens with a beautifully fresh and ripe nose, revealing delicate aromas of violet and black tea, underpinned by the subtlest hint of oak from its refined barrel aging. The palate is rich and concentrated, yet impeccably balanced, with fine-grained tannins that promise excellent aging potential—easily over a decade. While already impressive, it’s best to wait at least six months before opening to let it fully settle. A stunning wine, seamlessly blending elegance, ripeness, and freshness.
Two outstanding cuvées from Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, crafted by a hidden gem of the Rhône Valley.
