Wine:

From two south-facing parcels planted in 1975 on marl, limestone, and sandstone soils, the 2023 Alsace Pinot Noir Grand H Red is a strikingly intense and finely sculpted wine. Its broad, powerful structure is perfectly supported by a thoughtful maturation process that adds dimension without overwhelming. Despite its depth, this Pinot shows real finesse, with silky tannins and beautifully pure fruit—blackberry and raspberry—placing it firmly in the realm of top-tier Burgundian style. A long, saline finish and vibrant acidity bring balance and elegance, enhancing the wine’s impressive texture and clarity. Refined, expansive, and profoundly expressive—this is a Pinot Noir of remarkable poise.

Vinification:

Hand harvested in 20 kg crates. Vinification in open vats. Natural fermentation. Aged for 17 months in barrels, 20% of which are new oak.

Color:

Bright ruby red.

Nose:

Intensely fragrant with notes of red and black fruits, blackberries and raspberries mixed with a hint of minerality.

Palate:

Remarkable depth and breadth on the palate, supported by a crisp, well-balanced acidity that brings clarity and lift to the whole.

Temperature:

Serve at 14 to 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Slow-cooked beef fillet with pan-fried chanterelle mushrooms, veal chop and sweet potato gnocchi.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2034

A true symbol of Alsatian excellence, Albert Mann stands among the region’s most esteemed estates, producing biodynamic wines of remarkable precision and finesse.

Led by Jacky Barthelmé and now his son Antoine, who has taken the reins with quiet confidence, the domaine masters both white and red vinification. Here, Alsace’s greatest terroirs are reimagined with a vibrant, emotional clarity—yielding wines of unmistakable identity, balance, and depth. They are pure, digestible, and profoundly expressive—true benchmarks for wine lovers everywhere.

A crowning achievement: Albert Mann recently received Alsace’s first-ever 100-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate for one of its Pinot Noirs—and the rest of the lineup is just as compelling.

With a prestigious 3-star rating from France’s Revue du Vin de France wine guide (RVF, one of the country’s most respected wine publications), Albert Mann unquestionably ranks among the greats.
