Wine:

Made from young vines of Sémillon, Sauvignon, and a touch of Muscadelle, partly aged in barrels but without any new oak, the 2023 Bordeaux Château Closiot White charms with its floral aromas and fresh, pure notes of almond syrup and citrus. The palate is ample and finely textured, with a crisp acidity that keeps it precise and vibrant, delivering impressive volume and a touch of delicate bitterness. A wine of great fullness that will shine from the aperitif through to seafood dishes. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, vinification in rounded tulip-shaped concrete vats for the Semillon and in barrels (no new barrels) for the Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc.

Color:

Clear, bright gold.

Nose:

Fresh notes of floral and barley flavors mingle with hints of aniseed candy.

Palate:

Full-bodied and tactile, this wine is tangy and pure, supported by delicate bitterness and very delicate, well-integrated oak.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

As an aperitif or with seafood dishes.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028

Situated next to the Premier Crus Classés of Barsac—Climens and Coutet—Château Closiot has been under the visionary guidance of Jean-Marie Guffens for nearly a decade. Here, Guffens explores the full depth of his talent, producing sweet wines of dazzling elegance that rank among the most extraordinary in Sauternes, alongside dry whites that impress with their purity and finesse.

Driven by an innate sense of precision and originality, this Belgian winemaker is shaking up the Bordeaux scene, elevating the craft of dry white Bordeaux to new heights. His white cuvée embodies the same standards of excellence that define the Burgundian Chardonnays of the Master himself—matching their success with remarkable finesse and style.
