Wine:

Born from very old vines over 75 years old (the oldest of the estate) on a highly calcareous terroir, the 2018 red Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets resonates uniquely. Always on the edge, intense, and refined, it's powerful without being excessive, deep, edged with fruity aromas and spices. The crunchiness and freshness of the soil pierce through here, balancing this robust wine. Magnificent! Rated 93+/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Parcel of 47 ares. 75-year-old vines. Terroir: limestone. One of the oldest vines on the estate. Aged 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Beef cheek melted in red wine with pommes grenailles, duck breast with morello cherries, thick veal chop sautéed with fricassee of chanterelles.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2033 and beyond for enthusiasts.

A winemaking family deeply rooted in Burgundy since the 13th century, the Clergets continue their legacy with heart and passion. For nearly a decade, Domaine Yvon Clerget has been led by Thibaud, the family's brilliant progeny who performs exemplary work here.

With intelligence and patience, this exceptional winemaker crafts from 6 hectares of vines wines that are rich, complete, and expressive, perfectly in tune with their terroirs: Meursault, Vougeot, Corton, Pommard, and of course, the heart of the domaine, Volnay!
