Wine:

The 2022 Valais Syrah Red is without question among the finest Syrahs in the world. Grown on a north-facing terrace and made without any oak aging, it reveals itself with striking softness—pure, precise, and beautifully expressive. Aromas of smoked bacon, violet, black olive, and morello cherry lead the way in this refined, tension-filled wine, supported by juicy, supple tannins. A purist’s Syrah: intense and aromatic, yet without the overt ripeness typical of the Valais style. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Located on granite terraces at an altitude of between 400 and 800 metres in the Canton of Valais. Spontaneous fermentation, pre-fermentation maceration and punching of the cap, no filtration. Aged in vats for 2 years.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Sage-braised pork, rabbit sautéed with olives, roast quail and black grapes.

Cellar aging:

From today until 2032.

Established in the Valais on just 3 hectares, Christophe Abbet is behind some of Switzerland’s most sought-after, masterfully crafted wines. His micro-estate, perched on steep terraces between Martigny and Fully, produces wines as stunning as the Alpine landscape surrounding them: bright, radiant, and timeless.

A true poet of wine, Christophe Abbet is celebrated for his sensitivity and adored by critics. He’s raised Swiss wine to an art form, with his cuvées winning over the most discerning wine lovers and collectors—who can’t get enough of them.
